My Porsche journey started in 1991 when I bought this 1996 944 Turbo (a.k.a. 951)
This is one of the very few pictures that I have of my car, which I owned and maintained for more than 12 years and put over 327,000 miles on it!
In 2003, I fell in love with and purchased a 2000 Porsche Boxster S, which had great balanced handling that I was used to. A mere 3 years later, that same Boxster S developed a cracked cylinder head. The Porsche Dealer could only offer to do an engine swap for $13k. I then wrote PCNA, but they only offered the same pathetic solution. It was at that point in time that I lost faith in Porsche- there is no reason to replace an entire engine if a head has a crack, and, cylinder heads don't crack if they are made correctly.
So, being a person of principle, I made my own tools and fixed the car myself- This was during a time when no one was rebuilding these engines other than the German factory and one or two independent shops in the world.
